MM3 is a great chip for the PS1 and is ideal for most PS1 models. It allows you to play backups from CD-R media as well as imports from other regions. It is quite easy to solder compared to most other chips, and is a great starting point for a beginner's console mod.

Each chip comes with enough solder and 0.25mm insulated wire to install the chip. To complete the installation you will need a cross-head/phillip's screwdriver and a soldering iron.

MM3 has to be programmed differently depending on the region of your console, so please specify your region when ordering.

MM3 is not suitable for two specific types of Playstation console. One is the SCPH-100X series, for this console use the Stealth 2.8a modchip. The other is the SCPH-102, which is the PAL version of the smaller model known as the PSOne, for this console use OneChip. If you're unsure, check out my PS1 Modchip Flow Chart.
